Maidenhead Athletes Represent England and Scotland Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 August 2005
Following medal winning performances at National Championships, 3 Maidenhead Junior girls were selected to represented England (Natalie Trinder, with Ceris Marsh of Upper Thames) and Scotland (Jo Wright and Laurien Pepper) at the Home International regatta in Cardiff last weekend. Simon Ramskill was asked to coach the Scottish double.

This competition is run as a team points event between the home countries. The Maidenhead girls competed against each other in the Junior women's double sculls. In the race, over the new 1500m course in Cardiff  Bay, the Scottish double of Wright and Pepper, followed their race plan and sprinted out the blocks to take a 1 length lead at the 500m mark.  They sculled well but were unable to hold off a very strong Welsh double who slowly overhauled them to go on and win, the English double with Trinder on board sculled well to take 2nd place with Scotland in 3rd.
