Maidenhead Rowing Club is pleased to announce that it has employed Eric Sims as Director Of Senior Rowing for 2005/06.

Eric Sims (Manager of Eton Racing Boats, Eton) has been a club member since 1975. In just over 30 years in the sport of rowing, he has achieved the following:

Eric has also had a very successful coaching career with the following notable results:

In the mid-eighties he took the MRC from winning around 30 low level wins to winning over 120 wins of which over 50% were senior 1 or elite level in both men and women's squads.

During that period:

  • The women's squad made the final of the women's IV at Women's Henley on two occasions.
  • Larissa Endima, won the LW1x for MRC at Women's Henley and the National Championships, later that year she competed in Holland at the World Championships finishing in the A Final.
  • Allison Hope won the National Championships and Home Countries.
  • Mike Thompson and partner won the Nat Champs and Home countries.
  • Sarah Maudent won the Nat Championships and represented GB.
  • Zoë Barker, Tegwin Rooks, Christor Thorp and Michael Webb all represented GB.

Eric will be kicking the senior squads season off on Thursday 1st September at MRC at 8pm. You are all invited to attend the first evening whether a current member or someone new who is interested in joining the club. This is a free and open invite.

In the meantime, and if you have time, Eric would appreciate it if you could complete the attached form and place this in the captains in-tray or post it to the club marked for the Captain's attention.

If you are considering membership at Maidenhead Rowing Club then the Captain, Phil Munslow would like to hear from you. For a tour around the facilities and some more general information on the club, you can contact Phil using the drop down menu on the contacts page of this website.

We look forward to hearing from you.
