On Sunday 13th November, Maidenhead sent only a very small number of athletes to a new head at Kingston. This was to prove wise, as the parking for trailers was extremely difficult. The 4800m course stretched from Hampton Court back upstream to Kingston bridge and beyond.
In Division 1, Maidenhead WJ14 1x sculler Carmel Bevan came home first in a time of 23:53.
In Division 2, Maidenhead entered a WJ13 2x with Lexy Dobson and Fifi Bevan and a WJ15 1x of Aimee Broadbent. In the WJ13 2x event, Lexy and Fifi overtook their first opponents within 10 strokes of the start and were never caught, winning in an excellent time of 23:24, beating their nearest opponents from Kingston by 3 minutes. This young crew’s time would have been good enough to finish 2nd to an experienced double from LEH in the WJ15 2x. In the WJ15 1x, Aimee Broadbent tackled the long course bravely and came a very creditable third in a time of 25:27.
