Maidenhead RC juniors had 8 athletes (4 boys and 4 girls) who produced some outstanding results from this two day GB Rowing small boats trial. As a result of day 1 results, the top eight boy scullers were selected to race off in doubles and the top six girl scullers were selected to race off in doubles. Maidenhead had three boys and two girls selected for the double trials.

Boys:
Carl Delaney was put in the top double with Oliver Collins who won the single sculls on the Saturday. They went on to win the double sculls in a time of 18m 48s.

Phil Clapp and Dave Jones were put together in a double and went on to finish 4th in a time of 19m 20s.

Girls:
Louise Entwistle was selected to compete in the No 2 double with Steph Motram of Marlow and went on to finish 12 secs behind the leading double in a time of 21m 19s.

Ally Brooks was selected to compete in the 3rd double with Kara Wirt of UTRC and went on to finish in 3rd place in a time of 22m 09s.

Sophie Delaney competed again in the singles and went on to improve on her Saturday result by finishing ahead of a number of scullers she lost to on the Saturday and she finished in a time of 24m 39.2s to be placed 5th.

Laurian Pepper competed again in the singles and also went on to improve on her Saturday result by finishing ahead of a number of athletes she lost to on the Saturday and she finished in a time of 24m 39.6s to be placed 6th.

It was good to see both boys and girls finishing in such good positions at this toughest of junior events that attracts only the top elite junior athletes from across the country. Junior athletes invited to the Spring Assesments will be informed later this month and from the results achieved we can be sure to see Maidenhead juniors high-up the ranking list competing for a GB place.
