The Senior Women's squad had their first regatta win of the season on Sunday at Poplar Regatta, based in the heart of London Docklands. The 2000m, 6 lane course was not for the faint hearted as competitors faced heavy rain and strong winds throughout the day.
The Women's Senior 2 Coxed Fours was a straight final. The Maidenhead crew (Alison Evans, Anne Rees, Claire Wallace and Keri Johnson) were launched out of the blocks at the start by guest cox Vickie Sims and by 500m they were leading local clubs Staines and Thames. By 1000m the crew stepped up the pace, putting clear water between them and the rest of the pack. They maintained their advantage until the finish, winning in 7:40.5, 2 seconds ahead of Thames.
