The regatta is a straight 950m course raced upstream. Sunday was beautifully sunny with only slight breezes, totally at odds with the midweek rains that had threatened the whole event. Maidenhead had three young athletes entered and it's good to be able to say that all three came away with a win.
Gabby Watson and Fifi Bevan were entered in the WJ14 2x and made it comfortably through the heats to the final where they met Sir William Perkins. After a good start the girls had a 3 length lead which they consolidated down the course to win easily.
Carmel Bevan was entered in the WJ15 1x event. She also made her way comfortably through the heats to enter the final against an ex-Maidenhead girl, Hannah Shimmin, now at Upper Thames. Again Maidenhead had a good start and consolidated that into a comfortable lead down the rest of the course, winning by 2 1/2 lengths.
