3 Wins at Henley Long Distance Sculls Print E-mail
Friday, 16 November 2007
Maidenhead Juniors continued their successful start to the Head racing season by winning 3 events at Henley Long Distance Sculls on Saturday. Conditions over the 3000m upstream course were perfect as crew boats competed in the first division and singles scullers were divided over divisions 2 and 3.

Adam Lilley won J18 singles in 12:54 just one second ahead of Kleshnev of Windsor Boys School, in a field of 7. Ross McCoriston came sixth in 13:39.

Jack Beaumont won J14 singles by 14 seconds from Ryan Seager of Reading Rowing Club in a time of 13:44. The same two raced in the J13's last year with the same result.

In the WJ15 single sculls, Maidenhead came first and second out of a field of 12. Fifi Bevan won in 14:56, three seconds ahead of Felicity Young in second place.

Emily Beaumont coxed a J14 boys quad from Reading Rowing Club which won beating Claire's Court by 2mins 40 seconds winning her first pot for coxing.

Matt Granger and Stephan Blakeslee raced in a composite J15 boys quad with Reading Rowing Club finishing fourth, 20 seconds behind the joint winning crews from Wallingford RC and Windsor Boys School.

The WJ15 (Lexy Dobson, Kate Ryde, Henrietta Jenkins, Rebecca Reeve, coxed by Emma Sanerkin) and WJ14 (Emily Birch, Zoe Broadbent, Grace Alington and Hannah Wallace, coxed by Katy Lion) coxed quads came third (out of 8) and fourth (out of 6), respectively, in competitive fields.

The WJ16 quad (Milly Hendry, Jess Kemple, Alex Blake from Reading RC and Katherine Henderson) in their first race together raced well, and came fifth, making the top crew from Henley RC work hard to get past.

Orlando Fricker came sixth in Veteran D, finishing in a time of 13:44.

Bob Wilson, the oldest competitor and sole entrant in Veteran I, covered the course in 16:52.
