OJ 4-
The boys coxless four raced their final against a number of top rowing schools and two Welsh crews. The final was an excellent race with Maidenhead racing head to head all the way down the course with the Welsh A crew from Rhwyfo Cymru. After 500m Maidenhead led by half a second, this was the same at 1000m at 1500m Maidenhead had increased its lead to just over 1 second and racing head to head to the line Maidenhead crossed the line first (by 1.3secs) to take the National title and win the important England vest. Maidenhead National Champions are Robert Ashburner, Adam Lilley, Alex Ryde and George Poynter. Coach Tom Jost assisted by Rob Davies.

Third Gold medal
JW 2x
The junior womens double event involved two Maidenhead junior internationals, doubling up  from the eight. This Maidenhead crew won its semi-final with ease by 13 seconds. In the final they had to race soon after the eights final so were still feeling the effects. This experienced crew got off to a good start but was led by a Lea RC crew to the 250m mark. By 500m Maidenhead had drawn level and at the 1,000m mark they commenced a second half pace build and drew away to cross the finish line 10 seconds ahead of Lea RC with the other crews a further 14 seconds behind. Maidenhead National Champions are Ally Brooks and Sophie Delaney who were also selected to represent England. Coaches Ben Tipney, Simon Ramskill & Billy Brooks.

Fourth Gold medal.
JW 152x.
Maidenhead Rowing clubs younger members, J15 girls and J14 boys crowned their season with impressive wins at this National level. Fifi Bevan and Gabby Watson have trained hard all season and winning a Gold medal and National Championship title was just reward for the commitment to training they have put in all year. This win was by an impressive margin of 16.9secs. Coaches Maggie Bevan & Rob Davies.

Fifth Gold medal.
OJ 14 coxed quad.
Jamck Beaumont has been improving rapidly this year. Jack who is still only J14 had already proved how fast he can assist a crew boat move when he won through seat trials for a Maidenhead J18 quad to compete at Henley this year.

Now stepping into his own age category as part of a composite crew with Marlow Jack assisted his crew win through to the finals and then led from the start to open up a two length lead over Windsor Boys Schools. Racing hard to the finish they crossed the line  to cross the line 6.4secs ahead and take a National Championship Gold medal.

Three Silver medals.
WJ15 coxed quad.
This was a fine achievement for these young Maidenhead girls to win a Silver medal. The girls raced hard and only made the final through the repechage. This young crew raced hard and beat a number of top sculling schools and clubs. At the line they were only 1 second behind the Gold medal crew from Henley RC. Lexy Dobson, Megan Haines, Henrietta Junkins, Kate Ryde with cox Lynton Fricker. Coaches Orlando Fricker and Laura Lion have greatly assisted this crew achieve this result.

WJ16 2x
Maidenhead’s crew of Gabby Watson and Fifi Bevan who earlier won a Gold medal at WJ15 level now moved up to WJ16 level. In the semi-finals Maidenhead RC had one crew in each semi-final and both Maidenhead crews impressed by winning their semis.

The final was as expected tough. Off the start both Maidenhead crews featured at the top. At the 500m mark Watson and Bevan led and they also led at the 1,000m mark. During the third 500 Sir William Borlase moved through to take the lead and Maidenhead A crew battled to the finish line to take a much-deserved Silver medal.
Maidenhead’s B crew will take heart that they won the semi-finals and put up the fastest time. Unfortunately this doubles final was only 12 mins after the Eights final so with no time to recover they did well to complete the course and finish 5th. Both crews pleased with their results.

Ertan Hazine performed well at these Championships. Despite giving away 2 years in age to this sculler from Marlow Ertan pushed this sculler all the way to the line and finished only 0.8secs off taking the Gold medal. This was an excellent performance and no-doubt will set Ertan up well for next season.

Jack Beaumont doubling up at National Champs did well to take this Bronze medal in J14 singles to add to his Gold won in the quad. This should give Jack the confidence to develop his single speed further and look to win a Gold in the single in future years.
