The Maidenhead ‘Old Boys’ Veteran E 4 – won over their competition at the Marlow Spring Bank Holiday Regatta held on Monday 4th May. This regatta is held over a 900 metre course with a free start and is raced with the stream. With three different age groups of Veterans taking part this year handicaps were applied to the racing which was in Maidenhead's favour for a change.
Maidenhead took full advantage of the Handicaps and in the first heat the Maidenhead crew raced against a Vet D 4- from Marlow and crossed the finish line ½ length ahead, in the Final Maidenhead raced a Vet C crew from Walton and won by 3 Lengths. The crew consisted of (pictured from left to right) Ken Bedwell at Bow, Orlando Fricker at 2, Stephen (the knot) Janisch at 3, and Piers Alington at Stroke. This win adds to the win at Molesey Veterans head back in February and also the tideway veteran fours head of the river race win late last year.
