Maidenhead Juniors win 10 events at Swindon Splash & Dash Print E-mail
Tuesday, 21 September 2004
Maidenhead Rowing Club finished the regatta season in good form by winning 10 events at this years Swindon and Avon County RC, Splash and Dash Regatta held over a multi 4 lane 350 metre course on Saturday 18th September.

This was the 3rd annual Splash and Dash regatta which had a record entry of 200 crews. This event has been keenly supported by Maidenhead since its inception.

Once again Brain Dunning of Maidenhead was there in his role as an official carrying out Umpire duties at this event.

We had every sort of weather except bright sunshine, the wind ranged from mild to severe, and the rain from light drizzle to complete downpour.

Maidenhead's young WJ13 quad comprising Emma Kerns, Carmel Bevan, Anna Campbell, Lucy Brockwell with Anthony Toma as cox won their final with an easy verdict against Monmouth and Abingdon.

Maidenhead's even younger WJ12 quad of Lexy Dobson, Fifi Bevan, Emily Webster, Rebecca Reeve with Anthony Toma as cox won their final against Evesham by 2 lengths.

Carmel Bevan won her final by 4.5 lengths over a sculler from Stourport.

In the Mixed sibling 2x Matthew and Rebecca Reeve did very well to come home ahead of Avon County and record a good win.

Rebekah Kerns came home with a comfortable win against a girl from Stourport.

Ally Brooks won her heat and then came home 3 lengths ahead of a sculler from Sir William Perkins.

In the sibling 2x for girls Jo and Chrissie Wright showed that they could fly by winning this event comfortably.

Maidenhead's WJ15 quad of Ally Brooks, Chrissie Wright, Alice Ancora, Rebekah Kerns with cox Rebecca Reeve had no trouble in winning their event.

Alice Ancora and Rebekah Kerns won their WJ14 2x's final with a 1.5 length verdict over Sir William Perkins double.

Tenth win of the day was for the Veteran and Junior quad where Maidenhead won by 2 lengths from Staines RC. Billy Brooks and Roger Henderson were pulled over the course by Ally Brooks and Jo Wright and coxed by Rebecca Reeve.

In J15 single sculls Mathew Reeve made it through to the final where he lost by a couple of lengths to Oades of Staines RC.

In WJ13 2x Emma Kerns and Carmel Bevan lost in the final to Goldswain and Corless of Staines. Lucy Dobson and Anna Campbell came in 3rd in their heat behind Avon County and Maidenhead.

In WJ14 4x Emma Sanerkin, Harriet Ingall, Maddi Reynolds and Maddi Van Noorden with cox Anthony Toma came in 3rd behind Stourport and William Perkins.

In J12 2x Lexy Dobson and Fifi Bevan lost to Evesham by 3ft after being obstructed with blades clashing.

WJ14 single scullers Emma Sanerkin lost in her heat and Maddie Reynolds lost to Stourport girls by a couple of lengths.

Vet/Jun 2x Rob and Lucy had a fun scull but we are told they would have done better if Dad would have listened to Lucy's steering instructions instead of doing the exact opposite!

The Veteran Womens squad entered 3 events, a coxed four, a double and a single. Although not winning any of these events they all had good experience and fun in racing.
