Welcome
to the Men's Squad
The Men's Squad
incorporates a wide range of experienced members from Senior Four to Elite
level in both rowing and sculling. If you are a novice rower and have not yet
won a race, then perhaps our development mens squad would
be more suitable for you.
What to
expect:
Throughout the winter the
squad focuses on land training Monday-Thursday evenings, while water work takes
up the weekend mornings. The club currently has use of 17 well maintained
Concept II ergos, and in addition has a new Olympic standard weight training
facility at a nearby local school (all included in the membership
fee).

Waterwork is possible all
year round as the club is situated just one mile from Dorney Lake. This fabulous 2000 metre, eight lane
facility enables the club to continue rowing even if the River Thames is in
flood.
In Spring/Summer the
emphasis moves on to more water time, as the light in the evenings improves and
the rate of competition increases from the Head of the River Race in March
through to Henley Royal Regatta in July. Following this main event, the more
experienced members will pursue training towards the National Championships in
late July, while the others look forward to the more relaxed pace of smaller
length regattas such as Llandaff and our own at Maidenhead.
The
squad is like any other at Maidenhead and prides itself with its friendly and
welcoming nature. The squad enjoys a good social life attending many events in
and outside the club as well as just keeping the bar and weekend breakfast profits topped
up along the way…...
