NEW TO ROWING ?
Maidenhead Rowing
Club run a series of adult(18+) Learn To Row courses aimed at
those who have never rowed before and fancy giving it a go. The courses are
run by experienced coaches and several are British Rowing accredited. Numbers
are restricted to 12 per course to ensure we are able to give the optimum
personal attention.
Each course comprises 8 x 2 hour sessions held at the Club on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 6.30pm - 8.30pm
* Introduction evening: Your first visit to the club will be
an introduction to the sport of rowing and to the club, outlining how it is run
and the facilities on offer. This session will start at 6.30pm at the Maidenhead
Rowing Club and this will give you the chance to get to know the coaches and
your fellow course attendees. Please come changed in sports kit, as an
introduction to technique will be given.
* The Course: We aim to start each session promptly at
6.30pm to make the most of the light, but understand if you are a little late
due to traffic or having to work late. The sessions will teach you the basics of
sculling (an oar in each hand) and sweep oar rowing (1 oar for both hands) to a
determined level in wide and stable boats.Depending on river conditions you will
also be able to go out in a single scull. 
* Post Learn To Row: At the end of the course, full
membership may be offered to join a competitive squad subject to meeting
appropriate competitive squad criteria. Alternatively you may have the option of
joining the adult recreational squad (non-competitive).
* How to Apply: The cost of the course is £150.00
per person which includes membership of the Club for the duration of the course
and for the 4 weeks following the end of the course. £100 of the L2R fee is then
able to be offset against full Club membership for the remainder of the first
year.

for £150.00 made payable to the "Maidenhead Rowing Club". Write
your full name, telephone number, email address and your first and second
preferred courses (A, B or C) on the back of the cheque.
Please note that although you are very unlikely to get wet, you must be able
to swim at least 50 meters in light clothing, to undertake this course. Rowing
can be a strenuous sport and requires a certain fitness. If you have any doubts
consult your doctor before signing up.
On receipt of your Application Form, cheque and contact and Preferred Course
details we shall confirm your place on the Learn to Row Course.

Maidenhead Rowing Club is one of the few rowing clubs in the country to hold
British Rowing accreditation as a Learn to Row Centre.
Learn to Row Courses
All our Learn to Row courses in 2010 have now been completed.
Learn to Row courses will recommence in the Spring and the dates of courses in 2011 will be posted by end November.
