NEW TO ROWING ?
Maidenhead Rowing Club run a series of adult(18+) Learn To Row courses aimed at those who have never rowed before and fancy giving it a go.
* Introduction evening: Your first visit to the club will be an introduction to the sport of rowing and to the club, outlining how it is run and the facilities on offer. This session will start at 6.30pm at the Maidenhead Rowing Club and this will give you the chance to get to know the coaches and your fellow course attendees. Please come changed in sports kit, as an introduction to technique will be given.
* The Course: Your Learn to Row course will then run on both Monday and Wednesday evenings for the next 3 weeks. We aim to start each session at 6.30pm to make the most of the light, but understand if you are a little late due to traffic or having to work late. The 6 sessions will aim to teach you the basics of sculling (an oar in each hand) and sweep oar rowing (1 oar for both hands) to a determined level in wide and stable boats.
* Post Learn To Row: At the end of the course, full membership may be offered to join a competitive squad subject to meeting appropriate competitive squad criteria. Alternatively you may have the option of joining the adult recreational squad (non-competitive).
* How to Apply: The cost of the course is £125.00 per person which includes membership of the Club for the duration of the course and for the following 4 weeks after the end of the course. The L2R fee is then able to be offset against full Club membership for the remainder of the first year.
