Q: Who do I
make the membership cheque payable to? A: All cheques for
membership related funds, such as subs, rack fees and induction courses, as well
as donations to the boat fund, should be made payable to Maidenhead Rowing
Club.
Q:
When
are your training times? A: These will vary between
the squads and throughout the year. The most common times to find crews on the
water are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the summer and on weekend
mornings throughout the year. Contact the squad captains or coaches for further
details.
Q: I’ve rowed (at another club) before and I was
wondering what it would be like to row at Maidenhead? A: Have a browse through the
squad pages and the photo gallery, and then come down and meet us and have a
look round the facilities. If possible try
to pre-arrange a time with the club captain. See contacts page for details.
Q: My children
row with the junior squad, and I’d like to have some link with the club although
I don’t intend to row myself. £50
for an Associate membership seems a bit steep on top of the junior memberships
I’m already paying for. Is there
another option? A: For parents of juniors, we offer a
60% discount on the Associate rate but all the same benefits
apply.
Q: My
daughter was a junior and now wants to row during her university holidays. Can she join for a month at Easter and
then again for 3 months in the summer? A: To
make it easier for us administratively, we would treat your daughter as an
all-year-round member, but charge only one-third of the Senior membership fee to
take account of the fact that she is only using the facilities for one-third of
the year. This means that she can
row in any university holiday and also any weekends she is home during
term-time.
Q:
Are there any discounts if the whole family wants to
join? A: Yes, new in 2003 is the
Family Membership category. This covers up to 2 adults and up to 3 children
under 18 and of a suitable rowing age, who are members of the same family living
at the same address. A separate membership form is required for each person, on
which you need to tick the "family" box and fill in the lead name so you are
correctly linked together in the membership database. Please speak to the
membership secretary if you have any other queries on this.
See contacts page for details.
Q:
I live in Maidenhead and am in full-time education. Is there a discount? A: Yes, you would pay 50% of
the Senior membership fee.
Q:
I’m here for 6 months from abroad as a part-time student (full-time
student at home). Do I qualify for a
discount? A:
Yes,
you would pay 50% of the Senior membership fee, pro rated for the 6 months that
you are here.
Q:
I
want to row at the highest competitive level that you have
available. A: This would be either the
Men's or Women's squad.
Q:
I want to row for the fun and fitness but I wouldn’t mind entering
a few regattas in the summer. Do you have a group that I can row
with? A: Depending on the level of
commitment you want to make, check out the pages for the Men's/Women's squads or
the Development Men's/Women's squads for further information.
Q:
I
just want to be able to go out on an ad hoc basis. A: The Recreational Squad
would probably suit you best.
Q:
I
am a veteran. What rowing can you offer for me? A: We have veterans who
compete at a high level and a not-so-serious level! We also have a wide range of
ages in the Recreational squad. Contact the Captain for further details.
See contacts page for details.
Q: I used to be
a member and want to join again. What do I need to do? A: Unless your membership lapsed
within the last 5 years (in which case the form is still probably on record and
current enough), you will need to complete a new application form. If you are in
any doubt, please ask the Membership Secretary to check for
you.
