Maidenhead Rowing Club entered 3 boats into the Women's Head of the River Race for the 1st time ever on Saturday 5th March.

This historic race which was first run in 1927, saw an entry list of 256 boats for the 4.5 mile course from Mortlake to Putney in what turned out to be cold and windy conditions.

The Maidenhead 1st eight was made up from experienced rowers Sarah Archibald, Keri Johnson, Vicki Sims, Gemma Brace and Carola Hillenbrand, plus top juniors Ally Brooks, Louise Entwistle and Natalie Trinder and coxed by Lisa Robson. The 1st crew started at no.94 and finished in 61st place with a time of 21min 48sec.

The 2nd eight crew of Marianne Amato, Vicky Sprules, Francis Pearson, Janet Woffinden, Debbie Thomas, Sarah Bennett-Baggs, Olivia McDermott, Helen Jacob and cox Jill Danby, started off at no.222 and were placed 184th with a time of 24min 2 sec.

The 3rd eight crew included 8 of the club's Development Women's crew, who have graduated for last years popular 'learn to row' course. The girls have been training together lots for experience and put in an exceptional time of 24 min 22 sec just 20 seconds behind the 2nd senior crew.
