Hello All,

I hope you have all had a great weekend on and off the water. Here are some updates on how things are going.
Racing
In the last week we have had Burway Head and Walton Head.
Maidenhead was represented at both these races and results are as follows:

Dear All,

I hope you all had a great weekend, unfortunately the river wasn’t playing game on saturday but it did offer some respite today which enabled our crews to get out on the water, all be it a little fast, but its all good experience.

As we are now well into the winter months we may well be seeing the river go on to red boards a few times this winter but hopefully not as much as last year though! But never the less this will put strain on our current facilities so hopefully we will publish a booking table for our erg room etc as it will be in use a lot during red boards.

Hello All,

Another weekend of some good racing from some of our club members at Henley Sculls 2014, the conditions on the river as you probably know have changed in the last few days but never the less Maidenhead had some strong performances notably good performances coming from our Wj14 girls coming in a solid 3rd and 4th behind very strong Henley RC A and B crews. Results can be found hereSo please take a look.

Hello All,

As you know last weekend was Fours head and Vets Fours head and we have some great results! Special mention must go to our Junior quad who raced open junior quads and came a fantastic 5th over all (and the majority of these guys are 15!) so a massive well done to the boys. The women’s squad also came home with a strong performance in the IM1 quads coming in in the top 10. Please have a look at the Fours head results. Well done to the junior boys junior girls and the women’s squad at this early season event.

At vets Fours head we had also some very strong performances even in the possibility of cancellation and the eventual shortened course our vets crews did us proud wi special mention going to our women’s IM3 quad coming in 2nd overall in there division. All our vets Fours crews achieved a top 10 finish which is testament to all the hard work being put into the squads, great results and well done all our crews results are as below:

This weekend we also had the lone representative of Roger Macrae competing for our club in the Turin Silver Skiffs thats a gruelling 15k endurance race on the River Po in Turin. Roger has been on training overdrive and his latest results have lade testament to that. Its no easy task going alone to a regatta, let alone in a different country but he did it. He came in 217 overall out of 519 scullers and 18th in his division put of 55 scullers in a time of 49.07.040. Well Done Roger!

……………

As the title suggests the Thames is still being kind to us and lets hope it is all winter! Even so please make sure you are kitted up for the cold and familiar with all the rules of rowing at the moment, you may have seen a few new maps that the safety team have been working on in regards to safety on the stretch so please just take a look and take a mental note of any thing you deem new.

The club AGM date has been released it is on Saturday the 22nd of November, all are welcome to this as its a chance to see how your club is progressing and how the future of our club is developing. I hope you can join us for this.

Also the club Christmas Party date has been confirmed for FRIDAY the 19th DECEMBER the poster is below we really hope everyone can join us for this great end of year event! also don’t forget Christmas eights the day after!!!!

On a Special note,

If you are passing over the bridge one night please have a look at the club as we have been working on something that enhances our great clubhouse! I hope you like it! Special mention goes to our Club Steward Zibby for scaling the heights and putting in all the time to make this happen! Thank you.

Have a great week,

Kind Regards,

James

Some great results from both events, performances like these are all making Maidenhead RC an even better club and team to be apart of! Continue training hard and supporting each other and we will see more results like these!

General House Keeping

Just some general things to keep in mind around the club.

  • please make sure you pick up your water bottles after you sessions
  • please make sure you put the tressels away after use.
  • And please make sure you shut the boathouse doors if your the last one out.

Club Info

In the next few weeks there will be chance for members to have a run through on fixing boats and minor repairs I will send out a date as soon as I can. It would be great if we had a few members for each squad come along.

Yours as always,

James
