Webcam BackgroundThe River Thames Camera is run by Maidenhead Rowing Club and shows the view from the clubhouse. The site aims to promote the club to potential new members as well as sharing the great view with the rest of the world. Site ProfileThe site is one of the most popular outdoor webcams and is the world's first and only rowing webcam. Traffic through the site has grown steadily since the launch in October 1998 and is currently achieving in excess of 12,000 hits per month. Whilst it is not possible to identify individual visitors to the site, the site statistics indicate that the audience is a global one. The site is optimised so that it may be viewed clearly by over 99% of visitors, to this end browser specific features have been avoided. Browser statistics are reviewed regularly to ensure that this aim is met. The site is actively and regularly promoted on the world wide web. As well as being registered with all the major search engines, the site is listed with numerous webcam catalogues, and is part of webring networks bring visitors not only from other webcam sites, but other Maidenhead related sites.
